The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is the 7th largest stock exchange in the world by market capitalisation. The major index is the FTSE 100, which tracks the top 100 stocks listed on the LSE. Financial services are vital to the economy with London housing one of the world’s largest financial centres but the service sector is the largest contributor to the economy making up around 80% of UK GDP.

Some of the largest and most well-known listed stocks include Barclays (BARC), Lloyds Bank (LLOY), Vodafone (VOD), British Petroleum PLC (BP), Shell PLC (SHELL) and Rolls-Royce Holding PLC (RR).
